House-flipper loves it when folks flip out

Love-him-or-hate-him real estate guru Montelongo goes for impact.

Go ahead and hate him. Armando Montelongo Jr. loves that.

Few people will say it to his face, but the house-flipper turned reality television star turned promoter of house-flipping seminars knows he has a flair for pushing people’s buttons.

He has plenty of fans, but relishes telling a story about a drunk woman who told him what she thought of him — a slurring rant that might have earned as many bleeps as one of Montelongo’s TV shows.

“I said, ‘Girl, you don’t know the half of it,’” Montelongo says.

Montelongo, 41, shot to fame in 2006 on A&E’s “Flip This House,” a show that captured the country’s obsession with the housing boom. He appeared in three seasons, along with family members who served as amiable sidekicks to Montelongo’s theatrical personality.

Since “Flip,” the San Antonio native and Lee High School graduate has sponsored an Indy car. He’s executive producing the feature film “Mission Park,” an urban crime drama shot this year in San Antonio, and has started a film production company. He’s creating a new real estate reality show that he says would be “crazier than ‘Flip,’ and I’ll be doing it all over the country.”

And he’s been doing real estate seminars and bus tours — lots of them.
